Research
Interests

Structural dynamics and modelling, vibration reduction systems, kinematics and dynamics of mechanisms, are parts of the researches that I traditionally carry out. Nowadays my research interests are framed into four main areas: geophysical rupture models, characterization of scenarios, synthetic ground movements, as well as the fragility of the housing, buildings, networks, and hospitals systems. My researches also focus on interactions models of human structure under extreme load conditions, and the behavior of human agents in extreme environmental conditions led by psychology.

I am working on these subjects under my affiliation to the National Research Center for Integrated Natural Disasters Management (CIGIDEN), led by PUC.

Research projects

Development and implementation of an integrated human-structure interaction model in geographical settings under severe earthquake loads

Project Fondecyt #1141187 integrates knowledge from civil engineering, psychology, and geography to develop a model to understand the behavior of human agents and their interactions with critical infrastructure during earthquakes [...]

Characterization of the Pisagua 2014 and Illapel 2015 Chile earthquakes using InSAR and GPS

Framed under CIGIDEN, the project seeks to characterize the ground motion of the latest megathrust earthquakes in Chile [...]

Evaluation and upgrading of the earthquake response of shear-wall buildings after the large 2010, Chile earthquake

Project Fondecyt #1110377 executed from 2011 to 2013 with great results. A total of 12 ISI publications and 12 international congress publications and presentations were generated under the project. Besides, 18 students (undergrad and graduate) participated of this project [...]
